GURU KRUPA FOUNDATION
Sacramento Mahaperiyavaa Mandali has been dedicated to preserving Indian cultural traditions in California, successfully conducting multiple cultural and religious events that serve the Sacramento, Davis, and San Francisco Bay Area community. Run by a group of volunteers, we have run several programs in the past, including Natyanjali, featuring 15 dance schools; Perumal Kalyanam; Skanda Shasti Kumara Bhojanam; and Sac Margazhi, creating opportunities for community members to connect with their heritage, while providing platforms for children and adults to showcase their talents.

We are pleased to announce that we have received funding from the Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF) to host an event during Margazhi Utsavam in December 2025. Margazhi, the ninth month of the traditional Tamil calendar spanning mid-December to mid-January, holds profound spiritual significance in Hinduism. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna declares "I am Margazhi among months”. This sacred month is distinguished by early morning devotions, daily recitation of Andal's Thiruppavai hymns, and special temple ceremonies. Andal is a 9th century saint and poet who composed 30 Tamil hymns dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

GKF's funding bridges a critical gap, enabling our dedicated volunteers to deliver essential programming that preserves the Indian heritage for future generations. Guru Krupa Foundation (www.guru-krupa.org) is a private foundation based in New York that follows a holistic approach to charitable giving, focusing on Social Welfare, Higher Education, Spirituality, Culture & Arts, and the Environment.
